Product Description
Compensators, also known as expansion joints or flexible connectors, consist of components such as bellows, end tubes, brackets, flanges, and guide tubes, functioning as compensating elements. By utilizing the expansion and contraction deformation of the bellows, they absorb dimensional changes in guide tubes, pipelines, vessels, etc., caused by thermal expansion and contraction, or compensate for lateral, axial, and angular displacements in these components. They are also employed for noise reduction and vibration damping, finding extensive application in modern industry.
In heating systems, expansion joints are installed on pipelines to compensate for thermal elongation. This prevents deformation or damage to heating pipelines caused by thermal stress or thermal expansion, reduces wall stress, and minimizes forces exerted on valves or support structures.
Functions of Expansion Joints: 1. Compensate for and absorb axial, lateral, and angular thermal deformation in pipelines. 2. The expansion capacity of bellows compensators facilitates installation and disassembly of valves and pipelines. 3. Absorbs equipment vibration, reducing its impact on pipelines. 4. Absorbs pipeline deformation caused by earthquakes and settlement.
Expansion joint selection techniques: Compensators feature rectangular cross-sections with circular corrugations. A single expansion joint within a pipeline accommodates two-dimensional displacement, while an elbow pipe composed of two expansion joints can withstand three-dimensional displacement. Rectangular and circular metal bellows expansion joints come in full-height and half-height versions. Users may select multi-section configurations based on flue dimensions and stress-strain requirements: 1. After selecting suitable compensators for thermal displacement in the piping system, users must provide at least the following for structural design and manufacturing: circulating medium within the pipeline, design pressure of the flue gas duct, operating temperature, and selected corrugation pattern and wave count for the flue gas duct cross-section. 2. Dust baffles: Not required for ducts or pipes with low dust levels; mandatory for ducts with high dust levels. 3. To reduce bellows node count, consider 50% cold drawing. 4. Expansion joints are suitable for cross-sectional areas under 4.6 square meters and duct outer dimensions less than 1.5 meters on one side but greater than 0.6 millimeters. Standard expansion joints apply to all flue and air ducts.
Given the considerable complexity of various constraints, any intricate duct system can be divided into several relatively simple single-pipe sections—such as “Z”-shaped or “U”-shaped segments—by strategically selecting fixed supports at different locations. The deformation and compensation requirements for each section should then be determined individually. Due to the wide variety of expansion joints available, selecting the correct type is crucial and must be thoroughly considered during the overall duct system design.
