An expansion joint is a pipeline compensation component, and "expansion joint" is a general term for such components. The most commonly used type is the circular bellows expansion joint. Before the bellows is formed, Class A expansion joints—also referred to as expansion joints—may not require inspection. For Class B expansion joints, each weld joint on the tube blank that comes into contact with the working medium must undergo either visual inspection or radiographic testing. For Class C expansion joints, the weld joints on the tube blank must undergo either visual inspection or radiographic testing. The inspection methods applicable to expansion joints are limited to single-weld joints where the tube blank thickness does not exceed 2 mm. During inspection, the following indications should not be present:

1. Linear displays such as cracks.
2. Formed dense circular displays with four or more margins less than 1.5 mm.
3. Within any 150 mm weld length, there shall be five or more randomly distributed circular indications with diameters greater than half the wall thickness of the pipe billet.
