  As the national economy develops and people’s living standards improve, the demand for environmental protection is steadily increasing. Public awareness of ecological and residential environments is becoming ever clearer, and there’s growing recognition of the importance of sustainable development. With the stable growth of a high-speed economy, road maintenance equipment—including asphalt mixing plants—is now widely used. How to reduce and eliminate dust emissions generated during operation has become a key technical challenge for equipment manufacturers. The excellent dust removal performance of baghouse dust collectors has quickly come to the fore. So, let’s take a closer look at the functions and critical role of baghouse dust collectors as environmentally friendly equipment!

  Environmental protection is a fundamental national policy in China. The function of dust collectors is to reduce the concentration of dust emissions and thereby protect the atmospheric environment. During the production process of asphalt mixing equipment, dust-laden aggregates and various exhaust gases generated during combustion are forcibly extracted. As a result, air quality over large areas, the growth of agricultural and forestry crops, the living environment of residents, and even the working conditions at the construction site itself are directly affected, and combustion efficiency is also compromised. Therefore, these sucked-in flue gases undergo purification treatment to meet the national environmental protection standards, with the baghouse dust collector achieving a dust emission level of 50 mg/Nm³.

  1. Dust collector structure

  Typically, companies primarily manufacture pulse-jet baghouse dust collectors, which utilize baghouse dust removal systems. The filter bags used in these baghouse dust collectors are made from synthetic fiber fabrics, with a general heat resistance temperature of 180°C.

  Second, there are also atmospheric-backflush baghouse dust collectors. After the dust-laden gas flow enters the filter, a cyclone separator first removes large particulate dust, which then falls into a grate hopper, thus performing primary dust removal. The fine dust particles, suspended in the gas, pass through a gas distribution device and enter the filtration chamber uniformly, spreading evenly between the filter bags. These fine particles are trapped by the filter bags, while the purified gas flow is discharged by the main fan.

  3. According to the bag-filtering method, it is classified as ultrafiltration type. The filter material uses synthetic fibers.

  4. Composition of baghouse dust collectors: A baghouse dust collector consists of an upper hopper, a lower hopper (including a dust collection bin, screw conveyor, and ash discharge valve), a chimney, dampers, a cold-air safety damper, cylinders, a compressor, and other components. The baghouse dust collector is equipped with an automatic cleaning function, a flue gas overtemperature protection device, and pulse valves (configured in pulse-type vacuum cleaners).

  The dust collector’s control panel is equipped with a thermostat that displays the operating temperature. This temperature can be measured using a probe located at the vacuum cleaner’s inlet. When the temperature measured by the thermostat exceeds the specified range of 180 to 200 degrees, the cold-air valve installed at the dust collector’s air inlet automatically opens, thereby protecting the filter bags. The baghouse dust collector used for dust removal can be divided into several bag compartments. During the cleaning phase, high-pressure gas inside the dust collector effectively vibrates the filter bags, causing them to expand and dislodging the accumulated dust from the outer surface, which then falls into the collection hopper. A screw conveyor at the bottom of the hopper then transports the collected dust out of the system.
